Wait and load means a van and crew come to you, load the waste you point at, and leave with it in the same visit. You pay for the space your waste takes up, the labour is included, and because nothing is left on the road there is no skip permit to arrange.
It suits almost any job where a skip would normally be ordered: a garage or loft clear-out, a kitchen or bathroom rip-out, landscaping waste, a flat on an upper floor, or a house on a street where a skip cannot legally sit. The crew does the carrying from wherever the waste is, not just from the kerb.
The practical difference is time. A skip is delivered, sits for days or weeks while you fill it, then is collected. Wait and load is one visit of between fifteen minutes and an hour, depending on the load size, after which the waste is already on its way to a licensed facility.
Pricing is by load size rather than by skip size. If your waste only fills a quarter of the vehicle, you pay the quarter-load price, which is where most skips fall down: you pay for the whole skip whether it is full or not.

Published prices
Wait and load costs £130–£390 depending on load size, from a quarter load (up to 250 kg, 15 mins of loading included) to a full load (up to 1,000 kg, 1 hour of loading included). Disposal is included and there is no permit to pay for.
Not sure how much you have? Send a photo and we will tell you the load size before we come.

Wait and load vs skip hire
For most household and small trade jobs, yes. A skip on the road needs a council permit that typically costs £30 to £100, you do the loading yourself, and you pay for the whole skip whether or not you fill it. Wait and load starts at £130 with loading included, and you pay only for the space used.
| Factor | Wait and load | Skip hire |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Wait and load£130–£390 by load size, loading and disposal included. Pay only for the space your waste takes up. | Skip hireFixed price per skip size whether you fill it or not, plus a permit if it sits on the road. |
| Convenience | Wait and loadOne visit. The vehicle arrives, is loaded and leaves the same day. | Skip hireDelivered, left for days or weeks, then collected on a separate visit. |
| Labour | Wait and loadOur crew carries and loads everything, from inside the property if needed. | Skip hireYou load it yourself, or pay someone to. |
| Permits | Wait and loadNone needed. Nothing is left on the highway. | Skip hireA council permit is required for any skip on a public road, typically £30 to £100. |
| Time on site | Wait and loadBetween 15 mins and 1 hour depending on load size. | Skip hireUsually 7 to 14 days of hire, with the skip on your drive or the road throughout. |
| Access | Wait and loadWorks on narrow streets, flats, shared drives and anywhere a skip cannot be dropped. | Skip hireNeeds space for the lorry to drop and collect, and a legal place for the skip to sit. |
Permit costs and hire periods are typical figures for UK councils and skip-hire firms, quoted to help you compare. Check your local council for its current permit fee.
Scope
The labour and the disposal are part of the price. You point, we load.
| Included | Details |
|---|---|
| Loading labour | From 15 mins for a quarter load to 1 hour for a full load, built into each price. |
| Collection from inside the property | Garages, lofts, flats and rear gardens, not just the kerbside. |
| General household and garden waste | Furniture, boxes, bags, green waste, timber and broken fixtures. |
| Renovation waste | Kitchen and bathroom rip-outs, plasterboard, flooring and bagged builders' waste. |
| Bulky items | Sofas, beds, wardrobes and appliances, with itemised surcharges where shown in the pricing table. |
| Licensed disposal | Waste taken directly to licensed waste transfer facilities. |
| No permit, no skip | Nothing is left on the road, so there is no council permit and no obstruction. |
We cannot take hazardous waste: asbestos, paint and other liquids, gas bottles, chemicals or clinical waste. If you are unsure about an item, ask when you send your photos and we will tell you before we quote.
How it works
One visit, three steps.
A photo of the pile tells us whether it is a quarter, half, three-quarter or full load, so you know the price before we come.
You show us what goes. Same-day collections available — call to check today's availability.
The crew loads everything, the vehicle leaves the same visit and the waste goes straight to a licensed facility.
Real jobs

Wait and load is a rubbish removal service where a van and crew arrive, load your waste while you wait, and drive it away in the same visit. There is no skip left on your drive or the road, and the loading is done for you.
For most household jobs, yes: there is no permit to pay for (typically £30 to £100 for a skip on the road), no loading labour to hire, and you pay only for the space your waste uses. Prices start at £130 for a quarter load with loading and disposal included.
No, a permit is only needed when a skip sits on a public road, and our vehicle leaves in the same visit. Nothing is left on the highway, so there is nothing to apply for.
Loading time is built into each price: 15 mins for a quarter load, 30 mins for a half load and 1 hour for a three-quarter or full load. If a job runs over, extra labour is charged at the published rate rather than a surprise fee.
Each load size carries a weight allowance: 250 kg for a quarter load, 500 kg for a half, 750 kg for three-quarters and 1,000 kg for a full load. Heavy clean soil and hardcore are priced per ton instead, so tell us if your waste is mostly rubble.
No, loading is included in the price and the crew carries everything from where it is, including inside the property. You just show us what goes and what stays.
Yes, wait and load works on narrow streets, shared drives, flats and anywhere a skip lorry cannot drop a skip. Tell us about parking restrictions when you book and we will plan around them.
Wait and load costs £130–£390 depending on load size, with loading and disposal included. Itemised surcharges apply to mattresses, fridges and sofas, and these are listed in the pricing table above.
It goes directly to licensed waste transfer facilities. As a registered carrier we are accountable for every load, which is why you can check our registration on the Environment Agency register.
