What is wait and load rubbish removal?

Wait and load means a van and crew come to you, load the waste you point at, and leave with it in the same visit. You pay for the space your waste takes up, the labour is included, and because nothing is left on the road there is no skip permit to arrange.

It suits almost any job where a skip would normally be ordered: a garage or loft clear-out, a kitchen or bathroom rip-out, landscaping waste, a flat on an upper floor, or a house on a street where a skip cannot legally sit. The crew does the carrying from wherever the waste is, not just from the kerb.

The practical difference is time. A skip is delivered, sits for days or weeks while you fill it, then is collected. Wait and load is one visit of between fifteen minutes and an hour, depending on the load size, after which the waste is already on its way to a licensed facility.

Pricing is by load size rather than by skip size. If your waste only fills a quarter of the vehicle, you pay the quarter-load price, which is where most skips fall down: you pay for the whole skip whether it is full or not.

Wait and load vs skip hire

Is wait and load cheaper than skip hire?

For most household and small trade jobs, yes. A skip on the road needs a council permit that typically costs £30 to £100, you do the loading yourself, and you pay for the whole skip whether or not you fill it. Wait and load starts at £130 with loading included, and you pay only for the space used.

What we cannot take

We cannot take hazardous waste: asbestos, paint and other liquids, gas bottles, chemicals or clinical waste. If you are unsure about an item, ask when you send your photos and we will tell you before we quote.

How it works

How does wait and load work?

One visit, three steps.

  1. Step 1: Send a photo for a load size

A photo of the pile tells us whether it is a quarter, half, three-quarter or full load, so you know the price before we come.

  2. Step 2: We arrive at the agreed time

You show us what goes. Same-day collections available — call to check today's availability.

  3. Step 3: We load and drive away

The crew loads everything, the vehicle leaves the same visit and the waste goes straight to a licensed facility.

Questions answered

Wait and load questions

The questions people ask when they are deciding between a van and a skip.

Not covered here? Call 07857 647238 and ask.

What is wait and load rubbish removal?

Wait and load is a rubbish removal service where a van and crew arrive, load your waste while you wait, and drive it away in the same visit. There is no skip left on your drive or the road, and the loading is done for you.

Is wait and load cheaper than skip hire?

For most household jobs, yes: there is no permit to pay for (typically £30 to £100 for a skip on the road), no loading labour to hire, and you pay only for the space your waste uses. Prices start at £130 for a quarter load with loading and disposal included.

Do I need a permit?

No, a permit is only needed when a skip sits on a public road, and our vehicle leaves in the same visit. Nothing is left on the highway, so there is nothing to apply for.

How long does the crew stay?

Loading time is built into each price: 15 mins for a quarter load, 30 mins for a half load and 1 hour for a three-quarter or full load. If a job runs over, extra labour is charged at the published rate rather than a surprise fee.

What are the weight limits?

Each load size carries a weight allowance: 250 kg for a quarter load, 500 kg for a half, 750 kg for three-quarters and 1,000 kg for a full load. Heavy clean soil and hardcore are priced per ton instead, so tell us if your waste is mostly rubble.

Do I have to load anything?

No, loading is included in the price and the crew carries everything from where it is, including inside the property. You just show us what goes and what stays.

Can you collect where a skip would not fit?

Yes, wait and load works on narrow streets, shared drives, flats and anywhere a skip lorry cannot drop a skip. Tell us about parking restrictions when you book and we will plan around them.

How much does wait and load cost?

Wait and load costs £130–£390 depending on load size, with loading and disposal included. Itemised surcharges apply to mattresses, fridges and sofas, and these are listed in the pricing table above.

What happens to the waste?

It goes directly to licensed waste transfer facilities. As a registered carrier we are accountable for every load, which is why you can check our registration on the Environment Agency register.
