Cookie Policy

Most websites open with a banner asking you to accept cookies. This one does not, and this page explains why: we do not set any.

Last updated

1. The short version

This website sets no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no social media widgets. Nothing about your visit is shared with a third party, and there is nothing here for you to consent to or opt out of.

That is unusual enough that it is worth being specific about, so the rest of this page sets out what we checked and what the few genuine exceptions are.

2. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, so that it can recognise your browser again later. Cookies are useful — they keep you logged in and remember what is in a basket — but they are also the main way advertising networks follow people from site to site.

UK law treats them differently depending on what they are for. A cookie that is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for can be set without permission. Anything else — analytics, advertising, personalisation — needs your consent first, given freely and before the cookie is set.

3. What this website sets

Nothing. Specifically:

Categories of cookie and whether this website uses them
Type of cookieDo we use it?What that means
AnalyticsNoWe do not use Google Analytics or any alternative. We do not count or profile visitors.
Advertising and retargetingNoNo Meta pixel, no Google Ads tag, no remarketing. You will not be followed around the internet with our adverts.
Preference cookiesNoThere is nothing to remember — the site has no login, no basket and no settings.
Social media cookiesNoNo embedded feeds, share widgets or like buttons.
Strictly necessarySee section 4Our host may set a short-lived security cookie. It carries no analytics or advertising role.

4. The one possible exception: hosting security

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare's job is to serve the pages quickly and to keep the site available when it is targeted by automated abuse.

To do that, Cloudflare may set a short-lived, strictly necessary cookie to tell a genuine visitor apart from an automated bot — typically when it detects unusual traffic. It exists only for security, it does not track you between websites, and it is not used for analytics or advertising. Under UK law this category is exempt from the consent requirement, which is why you do not see a banner.

5. Other browser storage

Cookies are not the only way a site can store data in your browser. We do not use the alternatives either: no local storage, no session storage, no IndexedDB, no fingerprinting, no tracking pixels in emails we send you.

The only JavaScript on this site handles the mobile menu, the FAQ toggles and validating the quote form before it is sent. None of it stores anything.

6. Everything is served from our own domain

Many sites leak data to third parties without meaning to, simply by loading a font, a map or a video player from someone else's server — your browser has to make a request there, which hands over your IP address and the page you were on.

We avoided that. The typefaces are self-hosted rather than loaded from Google Fonts. The photographs are ours and are served from this domain. There are no embedded maps, no embedded videos, no chat widget and no review widget. Loading a page on this site tells nobody but our host that you were here.

7. The quote form

The form on our contact page is delivered to our inbox by a third-party form service. It does not run any script on this page and sets no cookies while you are browsing; it is involved only at the moment you press send, and only with what you typed into the form.

What happens to those details afterwards is set out in our Privacy Policy. If you would rather not use the form at all, call, text, WhatsApp or email us instead.

Some of our pages link out — to WhatsApp so you can send photos, to our Google Business Profile for reviews and directions, to the Environment Agency register so you can verify our waste carrier licence, and to Companies House.

Those links are inert until you click them. Nothing is loaded from those sites while you are on ours. Once you follow one, you are on their website, subject to their cookie and privacy policies, and they will very likely set cookies of their own. That is outside our control.

9. Managing cookies in your browser

You do not need to do anything for this site. But every major browser lets you see the cookies you have collected, delete them, and block them for the future — look under Settings, then Privacy.

Blocking cookies entirely will break parts of many other websites. If you want to understand the subject properly, the Information Commissioner's Office publishes plain-English guidance at ico.org.uk.

10. If this changes

If we ever add analytics, an embedded map, a chat widget or anything else that sets a non-essential cookie, we will not do it quietly. We would put a consent banner in place first, so nothing is set until you agree to it, and we would update this page and the date at the top of it in the same breath.
